Chiropractic Adjustment

services Treaatment Boxer Amir Khan Adustment.jpg

Chiropractic treatment incorporates a gentle, hands on approach to improving joint motion throughout your entire body. I believe that even your smallest joints play an integral role in your body’s overall movement. Having balanced joints prevents local inflammation, early degeneration and injury throughout the body. Chiropractic treatment also improves your physical performance and wellness by avoiding inefficient joint movements which often leads to dysfunctional muscle compensation patterns. I believe that chiropractic care is an safe and effective approach for treating and helping many different health issues and sports related injuries. Prior to the chiropractic adjustment, joint movements throughout the entire body are evaluated to determine if any joint restrictions are present. Adjustments are administered to restricted joints through a variety of different techniques dependent upon the patient's preference and comfort levels. The common adjustment typically includes a very shallow thrust which may or may not result in an audible "pop" or cavitation. This sound is created by the movement of "air bubbles" naturally located within our joint/synovial fluid.

Chiropractic adjustment benefits include:

  • Restoration of restricted joint motion

  • Improves nutrition to vertebral discs and joint cartilage

  • Pain relief

  • Reduces muscle spasms and tightness

  • Improves alignment of new scar tissues

  • Stimulate nervous system for improved sympathetic/parasympathetic response

Dry Needling

services Dry needling.jpg

MSK Ultrasound Guided

Dry needling is an effective therapy for treatment of both chronic and acute myofascial injuries. Dry needling involves the use of a thin filament needle being inserted into the muscle to help stimulate the healing process of any damaged or inflamed tissues that are commonly associated with sports injuries and other ailments. Dry needling can help to decrease muscular tension and spasming, which tend to occur with a variety of trauma or tissue degeneration throughout the body such as arthritis, sprains and strains, nerve impingements, disc herniations, IT band strains, tendinopathies, along with a variety of other sporting and work-related injuries. It does not involve the use of any injectable materials into the body, hence the name `dry' needling. TDN allows us to penetrate the deeper tissues of the body, often providing longer lasting results compared to traditional therapeutic massage and other soft tissue therapies. In addition, I use ultrasound images to guide the needle into trigger points and restricted tissue to make the treatment that much more accurate and effective.

Kinesiology Taping Rock Tape
Kinesio® Tape | KT Tape

Services Kinesio tape.jpg

Kinesio Tape® offers patients a more gentle approach to rehabilitation than that provided by conventional athletic tape. After unprecedented publicity and positive feedback from the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, athletes and medical practitioners around the world are calling Kinesio Tape a valuable rehabilitative and enhancement tool.

Kinesio Tape is a Latex free, non-medicated, thin, porous cotton fabric with a medical grade acrylic adhesive. The tape is comprised of elastic qualities which are designed for a 30-40% longitudinal only stretch when applied. Our bodies were designed to move and the Kinesio Taping Technique promotes movement and motion. With Kinesio Tape, we are not only limited to supporting and stabilizing musculature, but allowed to provide rehabilitation while encouraging movement!

How It Works

The technique relies heavily on insertions and origins of muscles. The built-in stretch of the tape can help stabilize injured muscles, support fatigued, weakened and/or strained muscles, and can also help facilitate a stretch for those muscles in spasm.

In addition to muscle support, Kinesio Tape can lift the skin to increase the space between the skin and muscle. This reduced localized pressure in the affected area helps promote circulation, lymphatic drainage, and lessen the irritation on the subcutaneous neural pain receptors. As an end result, the Kinesio Taping Technique reduces pain and inflammation.

Since the introduction of Kinesio Tape in the United States, medical practitioners such as PTs, ATCs, OTs, DCs, MTs and MDs have recognized and embraced this effective, safe and best of all, easy-to-use modality. The method and tape allow the individual to receive the therapeutic benefits 24 hours a day with both comfort and ease because it can be worn for several days per application. Currently, Kinesio Tape is being used in hospitals, clinics, high schools, colleges, professional sports teams, and even at the Olympic level!

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Techniques Graston Technique ConnecTX

Services-Pro Cycling Graston.jpg

Graston Technique® is an interdisciplinary treatment used by nearly 5000 clinicians—including athletic trainers, chiropractors, hand therapists, occupational and physical therapists. This technique is utilized at some 550 outpatient facilities and industrial on-sites, by more than 90 professional and amateur sports organizations, and is part of the curriculum at 21 respected colleges and universities.

The Graston Technique utilizes six stainless steel instruments to assist in therapy. The curvilinear edge of the patented instruments combines with their concave/convex shape to mold the instruments to various contours of the body. This design allows for ease of treatment, minimal stress to the clinician's hand, and maximum tissue penetration.

These instruments, much like a tuning fork, resonate in the clinician’s hands allowing them to isolate adhesions and restrictions, and treat them very precisely. Since the metal surface of the instruments does not compress, deeper restrictions can be accessed and treated. Just as a stethoscope amplifies what the human ear can hear, these instruments significantly increase what the human hands can feel.

How It Works

  • Separates and breaks down collagen cross-links, and splays and stretches connective tissue and muscle fibers.

  • Increases skin temperature while facilitating reflex changes in the chronic muscle holding pattern.

  • Alters spinal reflux activity (facilitated segment).

  • Increases the rate and amount of blood flow to and from the area.

  • Increases cellular activity in the region, including fibroblasts and mast cells.

  • Increases histamine response secondary to mast cell activity.

The Graston Technique instruments, while enhancing the clinician’s ability to detect fascial adhesions and restrictions, have been clinically proven to achieve quicker and better outcomes in treating both acute and chronic conditions, including:

  • Cervical (Neck) Sprain/Strain

  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

  • Lateral Epicondylitis (Tennis Elbow)

  • Rotator Cuff Tendinitis

  • Achilles Tendinitis

  • Scar Tissue

  • Shin Splints

  • Adhesive Capsulitis (Frozen Shoulder)

  • IT Band Syndrome

  • Lumbar (Low Back) Sprain/Strain

  • Plantar Fasciitis

  • Medial Epicondylitis (Golfer's Elbow)

  • Patellofemoral (Knee) Disorders

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Trigger Finger

  • Hip Disorders

  • Ankle Sprain

Myofascial Decompression (MFD) | Cupping

Services Pneumatic decompression Cupping.jpg

Decompression can be useful in the treatment of chronic overuse injuries such as bursitis, tendonitis, tendonosis, and other myofascial pain syndromes (low back, mid back, neck pain, elbow pain, shoulder pain etc.) ORS has several physical therapists on staff trained in MFD/Cupping treatments.

Myofascial Decompression (MFD), otherwise known as Cupping, is a form of soft tissue work where a pneumatic pump is used, along with plastic vacuum cups and placed on the skin to release the fascia and muscle tissue underneath. Cupping has been used in many traditional cultures for thousands of years, including ancient Chinese medicine, early Egyptians, Native Americans, and others. Ancient cultures used hollowed-out animal horns, bones, bamboo, nuts, seashells, gourds, or iron and glass to achieve desired results.

Most manual therapy techniques utilized in physical therapy are compressive in nature (soft tissue mobilization, myofascial release, joint mobilization, Graston Technique), MFD works in the decompression of adhesions; reducing inhibitions of fluids and nutrient exchange. It is effective in decreasing stiffness and pain, improving tissue health and increasing mobility.

Blood Flow Restriction (BFR)

Services BFR.png

Blood Flow Restriction, or BFR, is the brief and intermittent occlusion or restriction of arterial and venous blood flow that is performed by applying a cuff to the upper or lower extremity. BFR has been found to increase skeletal muscle, along with systemic whole body changes, and cardiovascular benefits while at rest, with low intensity endurance exercises of low load resistance training.

BFR is effective in:

  • Increasing muscle strength and size

  • Prevent muscle loss due to disuse (atrophy)

  • Rehabilitation / Pre-habilitation

  • Aiding in recovery

  • Improving cardiovascular function

Injured tissue can not lift the loads necessary to increase strength and hypertrophy without increasing the risk of injury due to taking these muscles to failure. There is a need to bridge light resistance training to heavy resistance training. BFR is that bridge.

Visual Skills

80% of sensory information is visual, thus it is critical to develop the core six visual skills in order to accurately create a comprehensive picture of what's happening around us. Understanding the six core visual skills allows optometrists, vision therapists, patients and athletes the ability to identify and correct visual weaknesses and enhance overall visual processing skills needed to make critical decisions and motor responses.

Saccadic tracking allows you to quickly and accurately locate the intended target while monitoring all aspects of the game.

Radial Shock Wave

Services Radial pulse wave Shock wave therapy.jpg

Radial pressure waves offer a non-invasive treatment solution for long term insertion and soft tissue pathologies. Local treatment of the affected area will enhance and reset the healing pattern, whilst reducing pain and improving function. With very few negative side effects, Radial Pressure Wave (RPW) therapy is indicated for conditions that are normally very difficult to treat, and is now widely used for many therapeutic and wellness applications. Physical effects of radial pressure waves include: pain reduction (Gate Control theory), increased metabolism as shockwaves influence the tissues on a cellular level, revascularization effect (where the renewed blood flow promotes tissue healing and regeneration) and muscle tone recovery.

Treatment outcomes are determined by the level of energy released by the high quality transmitters.
